WESLEY CHAPEL, FL – State troopers suspect an impaired driver may have been to blame for a multi-vehicle crash in Pasco County Sunday morning, according to a report in The Suncoast News.

The Florida Highway Patrol said a 34-year-old Orlando man was driving a sedan on Interstate 75 north near the State Road 56 overpass when the incident occurred at about 7:24 a.m. The FHP said the man improperly stopped in the outside lane of the roadway, causing his vehicle to be struck by a Tampa police officer’s patrol car. The sedan came to rest on a shoulder of the road, while the police car was struck by a another sedan driven by a 32-year-old Tampa man.

It was suspected that the Orlando man may have been impaired when he stopped in the road, and charges are pending in the case. That driver and another man in his car sustained minor injuries in the accident. No other injuries were reported.
