ST. PETERSBURG, FL – Police say the driver of a vehicle involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident in St. Petersburg Saturday has come forward, according to a report in the Tampa Bay Times.

The incident happened as the victim, a male pedestrian, was in the median lane of 38th Avenue N near 64th Street N at about 1:15 a.m.  Police say he was struck and killed by the driver of a pickup truck that left the scene after the accident.

On Saturday afternoon the driver of the pickup turned himself in to police, authorities said.  There is no word yet on whether he will be facing any charges.  Police have not yet identified the driver of the victim.
