TAMPA, FL – A man has passed away at a hospital after his pickup truck was struck by a vehicle stolen from Tampa last week, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
The victim was a 67-year-old Davenport resident whose name has not yet been released. Police began chasing the stolen car in Tampa on Wednesday, after it was reported to have been involved in a number of vehicle burglaries.
The pursuit continued on I-4 until the 16-year-old driver ran a red light and ended up crashing at the intersection of U.S. 192 and Westside Boulevard in Kissimmee at about 1:40 p.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The victim’s Honda Ridgeline pickup truck was hit on the driver’s side door. The incident caused a chain-reaction collision that impacted three other vehicles as well.
The driver of the stolen vehicle was critically injured and was arrested on several charges, including grand theft auto and fleeing to elude. Two other suspects were also arrested.
