DADE CITY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said a crash in Pasco County Thursday was caused by a driver who ran a red light, WTSP reports.
This is an update to a previous story.
The accident occurred in the area of U.S. 301 and Centennial Road in Dade City shortly after noon.
According to the FHP, a 77-year-old woman was driving north on U.S. 301 when she went through a red light and slammed into an SUV, causing both vehicles to spin around at the intersection.
The first driver and five people in the SUV were all hospitalized. The occupants of the SUV were a 72-year-old Dade City man, a 67-year-old passenger, and three children ages 1, 6 and 8. Details on their conditions were not released.
The driver of the first vehicle, a Dade City resident, was cited for running the red light.
